Gui is the founder and CEO of Dakota, a third-party marketing firm that has raised over $30 billion for its clients since 2006.
Dakota recently created its first software product, Dakota Marketplace, an institutional investor database built for fundraisers by fundraisers. The Dakota team uses the contact information in Marketplace every day to schedule meetings and raise money.
Since April 2019, over 120 investment firms (and growing) have subscribed to Marketplace and are using the data to schedule their own meetings and raise money.
Dan is the President of Dakota and has been with the firm since 2008. In this role, Dan has significant experience raising assets as well as guiding product development, and therefore helps develop the sales strategy for each of our clients.
In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Dan is still a very active member of the sales and client service team, with primary relationship responsibility for a group of institutional consultants, independent broker-dealers, banks and RIAs.
As Chief Investment Officer of Dakota, Chris O’Grady tries to blend his classic analytical training with structural trends in the marketplace. Through rigorous dialogue with allocators and asset managers, Chris and the team try to forecast where investment trends are topical and where these ideas fit in client portfolios.
In addition to his role as CIO, Chris maintains responsibilities for managing relationships with distribution platforms across multiple channels. Chris has a history with investment products outside the norm, particularly alternative investments, and he leads many of the sales efforts for Dakota’s alternative investment products.
Joining Dakota in 2007, Tracy Rogers is Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Client Service, but to her colleagues she’s “Command Central.” Highly focused on steering and executing the processes and procedures she put in place, Tracy ensures Dakota continues to provide an exceptional client experience.
Her responsibilities have paralleled this growth. Tracy not only organizes the day-to-day operations but also drives the customer service part of the business. She responds to client inquiries and requests, meeting deadlines as they are defined. A face at industry trade shows and conferences, Tracy loves interacting on both sides of the business, with industry professionals and investment advisors alike.
Prior to joining Dakota, Tracy was Director of Client Services for Penn Square Real Estate Group and an Annuity/New Business Underwriter for Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Gettysburg College.
Tim Brown is Chief Strategist and Chief Financial Officer for Dakota. He joined Dakota in April 2018 with more than 15 years of experience in strategy, finance and entrepreneurial practice.
Tim has always been passionate about achieving better results for clients. In fact, Tim’s background in delivering sustainable success for his clients positions him well to lead efforts in setting strategy, negotiating contracts with partners and vendors, and managing the financial operations for Dakota.
Prior to joining Dakota, Tim held positions with some of the world’s most recognized institutions, including Bain & Co., where he served as a Consultant; Ernst & Young, where he served as an Auditor; and a renewable technology startup where he was Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Carroll School of Management, Boston College, and a Master of Business Administration from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
Tim has become one of Dakota’s most versatile salesmen, possessing valuable broad-based knowledge about its services and clients. This knowledge complements Tim’s insights gleaned from multiple trips to the major metro areas in developing new opportunities and building on existing relationships.
Tim leads many of Dakota’s current client relationships in the traditional and alternative investment space. He also works alongside Dakota’s sales team developing opportunities in the RIA, independent broker-dealer, consultant and wirehouse channels by participating in conference calls and face-to-face meetings.
As Vice President, Institutional Sales for Dakota, Andrew O’Shea is laser-focused on relationship building and new business development. Paralleling his work on both internal and external sales, Andrew is a serious research analyst. In fact, he has become the team’s “go-to” guy for facts and figures, while leading much of the sales efforts for Dakota partner clients.
Ryan began his time at Dakota as a 2012 summer intern, supporting the sales team with research projects and competition studies. He joined Dakota full time in 2014 as Vice President of Institutional Sales, and has responsibility for account management, internal and external sales, new business development and uncovering new RIAs.
Studying product trends, market differentiators and historical performance across multiple investment channels, Ryan generates relative analytical reports for the Dakota Investments sales team.
Samantha joined Dakota in 2019 as the Director of Customer Success. In her time at Dakota, Sam has proven to be an instrumental part of Marketplace. She has created a great customer experience for the Marketplace customers, including onboarding, reports training and 24/7 support.
Sam has also taken on the role of the Head of Product Development, where she is developing new features for Marketplace and Pages while working as the lead on our Salesforce integration.
Prior to Dakota, Sam worked as both a Project Manager as well as a Delivery Lead. Sam graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s in Linguistics. She is also an SugarCRM Certified Administrator as well as a Salesforce Certified Administrator.
Nathan started with Dakota in 2020 as the Salesforce Data Manager.He is responsible for leading the internal and outsourced team to execute data improvement projects.Nathan is an integral part of keeping the firm’s data accurate and updated.
Prior to joining Dakota, Nathan worked as a Business Analyst. Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Steve joined the Dakota Investments team in May 2020. Steve was brought on to help raise capital across multiple institutional channels, mainly for Dakota’s alternative partners.
Before Dakota, Steve solidified himself as one of Macquarie’s (formerly Delaware Investments) top internal consultants in the Philadelphia office, where he covered a total of 15 states across three different territories.
A four-time varsity lacrosse player from the Pennsylvania State University, Steve earned his bachelor’s degree from the Smeal College of Business. He credits most of his success and hard work from his time as an athlete and learning how to be the best teammate possible. He is 6, 7 and 63 licensed.
Matt is Director of Private Fund Strategy for Dakota. Before joining Dakota in March 2020, Matt was a senior manager research analyst and team lead with the investment advisor research team at PNC. He was responsible for the sourcing, selection and ongoing monitoring of alternative strategies on PNC’s investment platforms. In addition, he focused on providing investment advisor teams with insight into portfolio holdings, market developments and performance across the alternative investment ecosystem.
Before joining PNC in August 2015, Mr. LeBlanc was a senior analyst at Context Asset Management, working across manager selection and product development functions. His other previous positions include work as an investment analyst at Context Capital Partners, a Telecommunication, Media and Technology (TMT) analyst at Betzwood Partners, an equity neutral hedge fund, and a media and entertainment equity research associate at Susquehanna International Group.
Mr. LeBlanc is a graduate of Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics and Management. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation.
Joining Dakota in 2017 as part of the institutional sales team, Rob Robertson managed traditional mutual fund and ETF accounts, developed new business and assisted the team through internal and external sales.
More recently, Rob has taken on the role of Director of Sales for Dakota’s Marketplace platform, which includes direct sales and new business development. Rob has been the leader of growth for Marketplace and has been integral in the development of its current and prospective sales pipeline.
Prior to joining Dakota, Rob held the position of internal wholesaler for Franklin Square Capital Partners, where he maintained relationships with financial advisors throughout the Philadelphia area.
Rob earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lafayette College.
Nick began his career with Dakota in 2019 as Business Development Director for Dakota Marketplace. Prior to joining the firm, Nick spent two years with Vanguard, starting as an investment specialist and shortly after getting promoted to a more focused role in fixed income as an analyst.
Since joining the firm, Nick’s strengths in creating and enriching new and current client relationships are a reflection of his sincere commitment to customer success and building partnerships with each person he meets.
Nick is a Christopher Newport University graduate with a focus in Finance and Management. He also gained his series 63 and series 7.
Since joining Dakota in 2018 as part of the software sales team, Cole Berman provides the team with multi-pronged data resources in support of the company’s business strategies. He researches, updates and expands competitor analytics, product and industry studies daily, ensuring that the support he provides to the software sales team continues to be dynamic.
Following his participation on prospect and current client meetings and conference calls, Cole summarizes his notes, disseminates them to the team and updates the Dakota Marketplace database, Salesforce.com. This helps the team with sales tracking and opportunity reporting.
Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from Georgetown University.
Andrew began working with dakota in July of 2019, focusing on institutional allocator research. Since then, Andrew has transitioned to a Business Development role at dakota. Andrew’s drive and motivation to bring in new business has resulted in a robust list of prospective clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Andrew attended Episcopal Academy and graduated from Bucknell University in 2019 where he majored in Economics and Political Science and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Dean’s List honors. Andrew’s work experience in the investment industry includes internships with FS Investments and Graham Partners. Andrew has also passed the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam.
In addition to his strong work ethic, Andrew enjoys playing golf and takes time to give back to his community; volunteering at HEADstrong Foundation, Middle Atlantic Blind Golfers Association, MANNA, and Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Forry joined Dakota in June 2020 working with our Marketplace team as a Business Development Director. Forry has proved from the start at Dakota that he is going to be an asset to the team, working to help the Marketplace team and customers.
Forry graduated from the Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He was also a two-time captain of the Men’s Lacrosse Team.
Kevin joined Dakota in June 2020 working with our Marketplace business as a Business Development Director. Kevin has shown his drive and determination from the start at Dakota, and we are very happy that he is part of the team.
Kevin graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Kevin played four years of varsity lacrosse at Holy Cross where he excelled both on the field and in the classroom. He was an All-Patriot League selection and named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He is also Series 63 licensed.
Anna Walsh started at Dakota in 2020 as Director of Customer Success. She has proven to be a versatile member of the team while creating a great customer experience for our Marketplace customers. She has worked to make sure all of the customers are onboarded to Marketplace and provides them with 24/7 support.
In addition to supporting our Marketplace customers, Anna became part of our marketing team helping to support multiple teams. Anna has over nine years of experience in customer success and marketing.
She graduated from West Chester University with a bachelor’s in Social Work in 2012 and from St. Joseph’s University in 2020 with a Master of Organizational Development and Leadership.
Since joining in 2016, Matt quickly became one of Dakota’s multitalented employees. Matt started as Director of Customer Success and shortly after became Dakota’s Director of Institutional Research, where data integrity was at the forefront. He has proven to keep the firm’s data accurate as well as provide new solutions for the firm.
Matt is a graduate of Wilmington University with a bachelor’s in Business Management.
Jess started with the firm in 2019 as the company’s Corporate Event Planner. She has an undeniable passion for creating unforgettable experiences. In addition to managing Dakota’s event programs, she spearheads the firm’s marketing initiatives for both sides of the business.
After working with Iron Chefs and James Beard award-winning restaurants, Jess’s drive and devotion to the company’s success has been paramount. She is business-driven and a collaborative team player when it comes to managing company projects. Her background in hospitality and customer cultivation has made her an asset to the firm.
Jess is a Walnut Hill graduate and has traveled abroad to become a master in her craft.
Amy started as the Marketing Content Manager at Dakota in September of 2020, and brings with her several years of content strategy and creation experience. A big believer in caffeine and oxford commas, Amy has always been a writer at heart, and has a Bachelor’s degree in English from Rowan University. Amy has created content and developed strategies for a variety of audiences, including the financial services, software, and food and beverage markets, and knows that the words we choose can, and often do, make a difference every day.
Jackson Tritt is one of the team's video specialists and excels in executing creative solutions to content goals. He creates effective and consistent video with the Marketing department, while assisting in cross-company media initiatives. Before joining Dakota Jackson lived in South Korea and worked internationally in various video production roles across entertainment, broadcast journalism, and advertising fields. With this diverse background Jackson honed his skill-set of storytelling and communication in media. While not making videos Jackson likes to stay active and enjoys Jiu Jitsu, Basketball, and Hiking.
Scott Blau has been delivering practical and pragmatic technology solutions across the healthcare delivery continuum for nearly twenty years. He has solved business problems that have made innovation real, executed value-based care strategies, and implemented technology to improve the healthcare experience using his operational, healthcare, and technology expertise.
Before starting with Dakota in September 2020, Scott joined Tandem from Status Go, a Salesforce implementation partner he founded in 2013 to bring technology tools to healthcare provider organizations around the country.
Priya started as Director of Enterprise Applications at Dakota in September 2020. Priya holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in Computer Science, as well as three Salesforce certifications, and will be coordinating the planning, management, and execution of IT programs directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives.
Priya has 15 years of IT industry experience. She has helped several organizations architect their future state by collaborating with the business and guiding their processes and application portfolios to modern digital platforms. She was also responsible for all technical aspects of solutions built on the Salesforce platform, from design and development to system integrations and custom code.
Before joining Dakota, Priya was the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Development at Tandem Careplanning, where she was responsible for various critically important aspects of Enterprise architecture, overseeing its development and implementation in all process phases.
Minas joined Dakota in December 2018. As the Vice President of Software Development, Minas guides and directs the company's technology needs by establishing viable, scalable, and innovative technical solutions. He's been instrumental in overseeing the architecture, development and quality assurance of all Dakota's SaaS applications including the Dakota Marketplace and Dakota Pages applications.
Prior to working for Dakota, Minas was the Vice President of IS Solutions for PharmaMetrics Inc., where his responsibilities included not only to manage the software development efforts but also to head the entire IT department, which included IT operations, infrastructure, release/change management, client implementation, business continuity/disaster recovery and information security policies. His efforts were key in the company's growth to maturity and eventually supporting in its exit strategy thru the successful acquisition by Integrichain.
Minas attended Drexel University and graduated in 1995 with a bachelor's in Management Information Systems.
As Senior Director of Technology, Tim Mitchell is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Dakota’s technical infrastructure, as well as managing vendor relationships.
With over 15 years of strategic IT experience in the investment business, including considerable project management involvement, Tim assisted in building Dakota Marketplace and Dakota Pages.
Prior to joining Dakota, he was responsible for overall strategic formulation and execution of technology at Directed Trustee Service, a branch of Equity Trust Company. Earlier in his career, he was responsible for all IT of a multi-branch community bank and managed all technology needs for Coho Partners Ltd., an investment management firm.
Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wheaton College.
Arthur joined Dakota in 2020 as the Data Analyst. He is an integral part of the team providing us with data, reports and analytics. He provides all of our analytics and builds out dashboards that help us understand the numbers behind Marketplace, Pages and Dakota Live!.
Prior to Dakota, he worked for two years as a data analyst at US HealthConnect, Inc. He graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Data Science and a minor in Computer Science.
