We’ll be the first to admit the phrase work hard, play hard is overused by companies. And yet it’s an apt description of life at Dakota. If for no other reason than because here, work often feels like a sport.

We’re a close-knit team that’s competitive by nature. Individually and collectively, we’re always striving to raise our game. Some days we win, and we celebrate accordingly as a team in one of our mind-blowing offices. Other days we lose, and together we move forward, always as a team, ready to conquer the next challenge.

Here’s another overused maxim: We’re like family. But it’s true! We’re 23 people who work together and pull together toward a common goal. And like any family, over the years we’ve developed our own way of doing things, The Dakota Way, and our language called Dakota-isms that only we understand and doubles as our core values.

Dakota-isms

1. Walk the 8 feet.
2. Throw your hat over the wall.
